Most site assessments begin with a habitat appraisal. Where required these initial surveys can be refined using more detailed and/or specialist surveys.
The survey methods could include:
- Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
- UK Habitat Classification (UKHAB)
- National Vegetation Classification Surveys (NVC)
- Phase 2 botanical survey for sites and habitats that do not readily conform to the NVC system, such as post-industrial (brownfield) sites
- Non native species assessment
